Have you ever seen a person taking notes as a football player is answering questions from a reporter?
This person is getting ready to carry out a consecutive interpretation,
and this does not only happen at press conferences.
How does it work?
When I do consecutive interpreting, I listen to the speech
while taking notes that allow me to remember
the details of the intervention. When the person
finishes speaking, I repeat the speech in the target language.
To do this, having a great memorisation capacity
and public speaking skills is key.
In what type of situations is it used?
